Zach Brock New(s) #1

I’m trying something new with my newsletter.

I want it to be less about me and more about the people, places, and things that bring me joy and inspiration. This digest is for you and it is a quick list of things that are currently capturing my interest and fueling my passion. I will have a brief “up next” section for my stuff at the bottom. Although this newsletter will never be as beautiful or as amazing as Brain Pickings, it will also never ask for much of your time. Unless, of course, you go down one of the the rabbit holes. If that happens, please enjoy the ride and tell us all about it.

Sounds: James Francies’ Flight - I heard James for the first time on Chris Potter’s new record Circuits and I was compelled to hear more. You’ll immediately know why.

Stories: The Overstory by Richard Powers - I was browsing my local bookstore for some new Pulitzer Prize-winning fiction and came across this fascinating, mind-boggling, heartbreakingly beautiful book. It has me in its clutches.

Sights: The King on Netflix - I found it to be rather ponderous and brooding, which is probably the most accurate thing about this historical drama. It’s worth watching to see Robert Pattinson’s turn as “The Dauphin” though.

Savories: Sey Coffee Monthly Subscription - Chris “Boomtown” Bullock turned me onto this small roaster when we played Brooklyn Steel with Snarky and now I have their beautiful coffee delivered to my door on a monthly basis. Is it worth it? If you really like coffee then yes.

Sweets: Rona Robert’s Molasses Crinkles - I’m powerless to resist.

I’m leaving today to finish the Immigrance tour with Snarky Puppy. We play Royal Albert Hall on Thursday (Holy Shat)! Tour dates and ticket links are here: https://snarkypuppy.com/tour and on my site.

I’ll be posting videos and pics on my Instagram page and also on my FB band page. Stop by and say “hi!”

I have two new recordings in the works, both due for release sometime in 2020, and I’m so excited for you to hear the new music! Seriously. I always say that but this time I’m even more serious than usual.

The comments section is OPEN and I would really like to know what you think I should share in the next newsletter.

Hope to see you soon,

zb
